Short consonant digraphs are 2 or more consonants that work happily together to make a special sound.

 

s and h  together  = sh

p and h together  = ph

q needs u so they have a special sound together =

qu  (q is a short consonant and u is a short vowel)

 

sh and ph are short consonant digraphs

qu works like a consonant digraph as q needs u.

 

Josh has a capital letter because it is the name of a person.

  

               The short vowels in 2 are coloured orange.

               The short vowels in 3 are coloured orange and the

                  short consonant digraphs, magenta.
